Heading into the weekend, a few noteworthy news stories you should be aware of.

W-K9 Form for Dog Owners

Starting tomorrow, the W-K9 form will be available to add to your 2022 tax returns. Taxpayers with dog(s) must itemize each dog owned, along with the estimated expenses you incur for things like vet bills, dog food and lawn maintenance. If you’ve already filed, you’ll have a chance to add it to next year’s return.

Pothole Fee

Beginning Saturday, crews will be surveying potholes on residential Western New York streets to determine the pothole fine due to each resident. The charge will range from $7 – $15, depending on the pothole size as well as proximity to your home. The idea behind the shared fee is that the homeowner is responsible for at least some of the cost of repair, since they’re typically driving that part of the road more often, thus contributing to the disrepair of the road.

Pussywillows Banned from 2023 Dyngus Day Celebrations

It’s no secret Western New York is home to some of the worst allergies in the country, and concerns over reactions have spilled over into an infamous celebration in Buffalo. You may find it difficult to find pussywillows after Friday. Out of an abundance of caution and to curb possible allergic reactions, pussywillows have been banned from 2023 Dyngus Day celebrations. The rule applies to parades, parties, bars & restaurants and other public gatherings.

Remember…these all take effect Saturday, April 1st…..

Have a great day on purpose!
