12TH ANNUAL NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE KINSMEN SHOW & SHINE ---------- Sunday August 8th, 2010 Vintage Millitary vehicles, Classic Cars and Motorcycles. Location: KINSMEN SCOUT HALL (the corner of King Street and Mary Street, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario This year we are accepting cars and motorcycles (they will have their own special section). The show runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Plaque for the first 300 cars. To register a vehicle is $5.00. Carly’s Crossing 2010 will take place on Sunday, August 15, 2010. Carly’s Crossing is an annual open-water swim event on at Gallagher Beach in Buffalo’s Boat Harbor. The event features three different courses for swimmers to participate in – the 600-yard swim, the 1-mile swim, and the 1-mile timed swim. Proceeds from the event benefit Carly’s Club, which supports pediatric cancer research and support programs at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. You do not have to be a swimmer to participate in the event – you can volunteer or just come out for the party on-land! Pet Connection Programs Inc. is teaming up with 104.1 WHTT-FM at the Erie County Fair in Hamburg from Aug. 11-22. Volunteers from the nonprofit animal shelter will be at the WHTT van and gazebo located directly behind the new casino selling pet totes filled with treats and toys for dogs and cats. All proceeds will benefit the shelter and animals in need of urgent medical care. Additionally, volunteers will be selling tickets to the organization’s Holiday Dinner Dance featuring Jack Civilleto & The Pyramid Band on Saturday, Dec. 4, at the Hearthstone Manor in Depew. Tickets are just $25 per person. And, for every $5 spent at Pet Connection’s Erie County Fair booth, you’ll receive a raffle ticket for a great daily prize giveaway! Teddy Bear Picnic (COMMUNITY)

Location: Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum
The Herschell Carrousel Factory Museum invites children to bring their favorite teddy bear (or other stuffed animal) to the Teddy Bear Picnic on August 19, 2010 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM. Children will be able to take their fuzzy friend on the carousel, play games from the past, and participate in crafts and face painting. There will also be a performance of children’s stories and songs by Tiger Tom Walsh. Admission is $8 for children ages 2- 12 and $2 for adults. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Admission includes all activities, refreshments, and carrousel rides. The event is held at the museum located at 180 Thompson Street in North Tonawanda. Players will include former & current coaches as well as former players over the age of 18. Official guest for the coin toss is yet to be determined. The second game, with a kick-off at 8:30pm, will be between the City of Lockport Fire Department vs. the City of Lockport Police Department – The official guest for the coin toss will be Mayor Michael Tucker.Guest referee for both games will be Dale Mussen from the Country 106.5 WYRK morning show.Musical entertainment “8 0'Clock Friday” on the City of Lockport stage starting at 5:30pm.The event will also include various prize raffles, 50/50 and open concessions. 100% of the proceeds to benefit "KIDS ESCAPING DRUGS"
